An excellent razor at an affordable price! I started shaving my head about 2 years ago, and of course I used cartridge razors at first. Then I heard about DE razors and wet shaving, and I had to try it out. I bought some proraso shaving soap, a brush, aftershave, and an alum block. I decided on this razor as sort of an entry level razor to make my way into wet shaving. The price was right and it had pretty good reviews. At first....I cut myself a lot, serious bleeders. One time I nicked my ear and it bled forever. Once I got used to the technique, from watching lots of videos, it became easy and I wondered how I ever cut myself in the first place. It took a lot longer than using cartridge blades obviously, with the prep, doing two passes and a clean up pass, etc. But the whole process was relaxing and meditative and became a nightly routine.So then I decided to graduate to a more expensive, well known option. I did tons of research and I settled on the Edwin Jagger DE89. I was so excited to receive it. I gave the bigfoot razor to my wife for her legs. I used it for several months, and I just wasn't getting as close of a shave. It took another pass, and I had a really hard time getting my head smooth. Some spots I'd go over and over and just couldn't seem to get all the stubble. So a couple weeks ago I switched with my wife, and now she uses the Edwin Jagger and I used this one. Perhaps it is a more aggressive razor, I'm not sure. So today, I tried a merkur 34C, which I hear so much about. It was definitely better than the Edwin Jagger, but the jury is still out when compared with this razor. I'm going to try the merkur for a couple weeks, but I have a feeling that I'll end up with this bigfoot shaves razor again in the end. Thank you Bigfoot Shaves for being my intro into wet shaving! 5Great Starter Package! Handles a bit short, and bladesd dull quickly. Just started shaving with a safety razor. I have a pretty thick growth, and have to shave daily. When I was deployed I had to shave during lunch cause I'd have a 5oclock shadow by then. With a safety razor, I no longer have to shave EVERY DAY (unless I want to).The handle is good, good weigh, easy to use, just wish it was a bit longer. Like the butterfly opening for the blade. (-* for the shortness)The included blades I feel are ok to get you started but they definitely aren't even close to others that are available. After using them twice, and the. Trying a 7o'clock blade, it's not even a question. Bigfoot shaves blades just aren't as sharp, and don't last as long. This could be again to my thick growth dulling out the blade over a single shave. Still, there are many different blades available on amazon, 100ct packs making it like $.12 a shave.Overall, I feel it was completely worth the purchase, you do get a lot for $13, and it opens up your eyes to how much money has been wasted on disposable razors. I'll never go back. 4Easy to use, quality razor. First impression is that this is a great Butterfly Razor. It screws and unscrews easily. Changing blades is a breeze. Blade sits tight and there is no play. Excellent textured grip prevents slipping.I'm coming from the 3 piece Vikings Blades razor that has no texture on the grip, so this is a great change. It's much easier to change blades than a 3 piece. Both are good razors but I really appreciate the ease of use with this butterfly. I cut my thumb on the 3 piece when I first got it and was screwing in the new blade. Pretty bad cut with a fresh razor. There's really no way to do that with this razor.Quality seems good. The case with the mirror is a nice bonus and will be good for travel. If you're thinking about trying out a butterfly, might as well give this one a go. 5Look no further for the perfect shave Bigfoot Shaves has a well designed and engineered razor that delivers an ultra close comfortable shave. I have very stiff facial hair so the blades supplied only last me one or two shaves at best. I inserted a feather blade and I was treated to my closest shave ever. The star of the show is the weight of the razor. Using the right amount of pressure the razor will glide over your skin and effortlessly remove the hair. I can absolutely 100% recommend this razor.A quick note on the Seller too. When my razor arrived, it was very well protected for shipping in a heavy cardboard shell. And it arrived very quickly after the Bigfoot Shaves received the order. In my case it was 2 working days after I placed the order. The seller feedback I left was simply three words: excellence in transaction. All the way around it was an excellent transaction. Great product, well packaged, and really fast shipping and delivery of the razor. All of this leads me to say that Bigfoot Shaves is concerned about delivering a quality product, and they care about their customer's total satisfaction.Addendum:I occasionally look back on my reviews to see if they're still relevant. This review still works for me, as does the razor. Over two years with the same Bigfoot Shaves Razor, and it is still my go to shaving tool. But I also wanted to mention that shaving with a double edge razor has a few benefits.1) Only the blades are replaced. This means a lot less disposed of plastic razors in landfills.2) Single blade shaving reduces ingrown hairs, if not eliminating the condition entirely.3) You have many choices of blades to work with. Not all double edge blades are created equal; some days you may feel a sharper blade is in order, the next day you may decide on another level of sharpness. You have different blade options, based on your needs. 5What are you waiting for? After not shaving for many years, I decided I would try it again. Well lookie there, another internet subculture. So after searching here and there and reading this and that, boom overwhelming. So I figured I would look around for something simple and new. This seemed like a good option in the middle of the road so lets give it a try. It was a good choice. Easy to load blades, use and clean. Shaves well. It is light and a short handle, so its easy to use. I hear that eventually its cheaper to shave with a safety razor and this helps with that since it wont take you six months of shaving before you recoup your initial cost. You can get this, use what you have for shaving cream and give this technique a shot. If you like it there are plenty of options for higher end shaving gear that you might lust after but not really need. If you dont like it, then you are not out more than its going to cost you for some cartridge razor stuff and maybe you can resell this or share it with someone else or even recycle it. 5Really does prevent razor burn I started having an issue with razor burn on my neck from the five-blade razor cartridges I was using. In reading how to treat and prevent it, one thing that kept coming up was to switch to a single-blade safety razor. I decided to try this, and I've been really happy with it. The handle is heavy, quality steel. There is a dial at the bottom that turns back and forth to open the top like a butterfly, so that you can take the blades in and out.The blades are very thin, and very sharp. I definitely get just as close a shave with this as I did with the 5-blade cartridge, and no razor burn. The blades don't last as long, but at 40 cents each, even if you go through 2-3 per week instead of one $2 five-blade cartridge per week ... they still end up costing half as much. And no razor burn. It definitely helps to follow the instructions for the best shave (go slow, with the grain, no pressure, etc.). 5Very enjoyable! I ve been shaving for fifty years, started out with an electric, but soon migrated to a double edge Schick adjustable. Razors were cheap then, blades were very expensive (hence the marketing adage, give away the razor to sell razor blades). I ve been shaving electrically recently, and when my razor died, decided to give double edge another try. I m very glad that I did.The quality of the Butterfly double edge is outstanding, well crafted, and well balanced and responsive. I don t care for the included Big Foot blades, I switched to Shark blades and am very very pleased with the result. I can hold the razor very lightly, with three fingers or four, and get a remarkably smooth and swift shave.The travel case, with integrated mirror and blade recess, is very useful.If you re new to double edge, consider holding the razor very lightly, and let it communicate with you. Let the guard glide along the surface of your skin. Guide it along. Work lightly. Get a shaving soap or creame that you like, rinse off with warm and then cold water. 5so I went with good ole soap and water This is my first time using this kind of shaver. I have been a disposable razor guy for all of my life. Switching over was a little tough at first, because there is no lubricant on this razor and I am not typically one to lather when shaving. So, I now have to add a lubricant to my process. I didn't want to buy any type of cream, gel, or foam, because I didn't want to add cost, so I went with good ole soap and water. Because this is a new process for me I did nick myself a couple of times, but only a little. That happened more because of the user, me, being a novice and not because of the razor. Just like learning anything new it takes a few tries to start to get the hang of it. Since then, I haven't nicked myself. I am getting a smooth shave. The razor cuts well and the shaver is easy to handle.I decided to switch to this kind of product for expense, less waster, and easy of use. For this product all three boxes have been checked. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. 5Old school is always a great way to go! I was so excited to find this "Old School" razor blade. I bought it for my boyfriend as a gift. Unfortunately, the handle was not long enough for his big hands (I did not think of that). So, I figured instead of returning it, I would use it to shave my legs - Don't judge, my grandmother taught me to shave my legs with one of these babies!!! The best shave ever! However, the handle is slippery and not ideal for the shower. The company emailed me asking to contact them with any issues. So I let them know about short handle for the man child and too slippery to hold on to in the shower. Not a peep back from them. So much for great customer service. 3One of the finest micro-razor single blade shavers in existence A beautiful little shave razor that uses the single edged blade and it comes with a very nice case to to keep the shave in. Top notch. I have had a few of the commercial razor of this type and they were not beautiful they were industrial and meant to do the job and not look pretty doing it. This razor looks pretty, in the sense, you can see the engineering, the thoughtful design put into it, and above all it's shiny, a nice silvery shiny, it's like a little jewel, but for me, this little jewel will serve a very important function. I have test used it and it feel solidly made, in that, it won't break apart after a couple of months of continued use. It feels strong, especially for is size. So I am looking forward to a long relationship with my new razor. I also love that I can buy razors by the tens and be prepared so much ahead of time, I will never have to panic that the razor has gone dull and will nick or cut my face. I can always be prepared to have a good shave. 5
