Customer Reviews

Five Stars Worked wonders! Just in time for the Zombie Walk! 5Perfect for Severed Limbs This liquid latex works great! I used it to make severed limbs and fingers for Halloween props this year and they came out perfect. It's super easy to use and there's a decent amount in the bottle. The photos I took were screenshots of a video so they may be a little blurry, but the latex allows for all the grooves and wrinkles of the hand to appear, which creates a realistic prop! I used craft paint to after stuffing the hand and the final product came out great. 5Awesome product, worked great once I got the hang of it This is the second bottle of liquid latex I have ever purchased and the first was a rock hard, completely solid mass of rubber purchased from Party City, not sure what the brand was. I assume the bottle was old and I returned it no problem but you can imagine my delight when I received this bottle and I opened it to find the latex inside the bottle actual liquid. Because I had never used it before there was a bit of a learning curve with how messy and weird it is to work with but once I got the hang of it I realized this stuff was like magic and did exactly what I wanted it to.I created a zombie mouth prosthetic and ripped skin and this product worked perfectly. 4Watered down product I bought this product because it was at a cheaper price. Huge mistake on my part. This liquid latex is like water and hardly sticks to anything at all so I can't build any layers. I purchased this to mold some prosthetic but I will have to buy another product instead. If you are just making fake skin effects, this is probably perfect for you. If you want to make molds then I would suggest cinema secrets, its only a few bucks extra and works much better. Also quick warning, don't try to shake bottle like I did. The cap doesn't fit properly and I sprayed latex allover my room. 2Scare the bejeezus out of everyone The tiny bottles of liquid latex at Spirit Halloween and other party stores are /expensive/. I decided to buy it online even though I had a coupon for it. I bought the bigger bottle because I didn't know how much it would take to do some effects.Turns out, you don't need a lot. But a fan and patience is good. With toilet paper, cream makeup, and foundation, I was able to create gashes and second/third degree burns that stopped people in their tracks. Liquid latex is versatile so don't let me limit your imagination.By the way, I wanted to experiment with this and not worry about making a mess. I used cheap sponge brushes to apply and sat on a cut open plastic trash bag to cover the area. I also made my 2-ply TP to 1-ply (yes, it matters, and try to get one without texture) and tore them before hand cause I knew my fingers would be getting messy. Some things I learned using this product:1. Use a fan or be in a well ventilated area. I was experimenting with this for a few hours and it stank my room up. It might have been ammonia, but it wasn't that acrid. It didn't smell pleasant but it also didn't stay. The special effects themselves did not smell.2. Layer. If you're using toilet paper that is. I haven't gotten around to using wound wax or liquid latex with it, but I really like 1-ply toilet paper. Apply a thin layer of latex, apply a jagged piece of toilet paper. You can create a natural looking build up of what seems to be your torn flesh.3. Foundation: important. I used my foundation to matte the slight gloss that dried latex has. The skin tone makeup will transition between skin and latex better than Halloween cream makeups. I tried mixing a cream foundation with latex, thinking both are hydrophobic and will mix. It didn't for me, but maybe I didn't try hard enough? It didn't make too much difference when it dried.4. Apply a larger base of latex than needed. If you want to make a gash a few inches long, add another few inches all over the perimeter of your application. After a long wear, the edges of the latex will peel up and you don't want that close to your SFX. Also, if you want to apply cream makeup on top of it, you're better off if it's all on latex. The latex acts like a primer and will show colors more vividly than plain skin, so once you cross the border, it becomes very obvious. This might be the most important lesson that I learned -- you DEFINITELY see where the latex ends and it generally is not what you want.5. Be prepared to throw everything away. As in... this is latex. It behaves similarly to acrylic paint when it's on non-human surfaces. It's very difficult to get off. I found that I can away with this by washing everything before it's dried, but I don't want latex in my drains. If you have a thin layer on your skin, have fun because you can peel it off like Elmer's. If it's a thick glob, you can either peel it off or rub it.Question: when the latex dried, it created a "wrinkly" skin effect, a little but like the way white glue will do when it dries. Does anyone know how to prevent this? 5strong chemical smell burnt my nose hair Before I ordered I checked the ingredients list thinking I could find something with less chemicals then Elmer's glue or something organic. The ingredients list seemed ok, it definitely had less chemicals than Elmer's glue, but did mention ammonia. I thought surly its just a minute amount to preserve the latex and would be ok, especially since the 5 star reviews didn't mention the smell. so when it arrived I opened it to smell it to see how bad the odor would be, it was horrible! No way could I put that on my face. It was the equivalent of a litter box. My nose immediately started burning. Its the kind of smell in chemistry you are taught to weft so you don't burn your nose hairs. The product doesn't mention a smell at all or if the smell will go away after the product is dry. No way could I put this on my face! Elmer's glue is safer. 1I'm not sure I know what you'd use this for ... I'm not sure I know what you'd use this for. It was way to thin for my application (use as a sealer). It poured though every tiny gap and eventually drained completely out of the space I was trying to seal. I decided to use latex paint which is thicker than this product and had a viscosity that stopped it from pouring through the gaps. If your parts alight with tight clearances, this might seal them up, but it didn't work for me. 35 stars according to an in-the-know teenage theater student. My neighbors don't shop Amazon (I know.. How DARE they?!?! lol) so their teenage daughter asked me to order this for her. She's 15 and taking a theatrical class at school this year. She wanted to try some special skin effects before school started using this latex.I asked her how she liked it so I could do the review. She told me to come over later and she would show me herself. She made a "arm mask" of a zombie's degenerating skin. Looked SO REAL!So.. I have to give this 5 stars according to an in-the-know teenage theater student. She's asked me to order more for her as the school year progresses. 5So easy to use Google videos on what to do. First time ever attempting to use latex. I have no knowledge at all. All I did was Google and read reviews. I went to work for Halloween and my boss had to talk to me and told me he couldn't look at my face because I looked disgusting.I saw and other reviews that people had complaints about the smell it didn't bother me I had it on my eyes and underneath my eyes close to my nose I didn't smell anything. Maybe people are very sensitive to an ammonia smell and that's why it bothered them. It did have a smell but not enough to annoy me and I definitely didn't smell anything on my face throughout the night or when I wore to work. 5Love the product except for the sealing issues. I love using this product around Halloween for various looks. The one thing I have with the product is how it is sealed. When I got the bottle the plastic pull off tab was not sealed properly so I had dried latex all around the edge of the cap and on the inside of the cap. When I took the plastic seal off, spider webs of the dried latex followed but I still used this like normal. When I was finished and cleaned everything up, I put the cap back on but it was not sealed properly so everything ended up spilling out while in storage. It did not leave much of a stain and I caught it quick enough so clean up was relatively easy but it was a bummer that I paid for this product and only got one use out of it when I could have gotten so much more. 3
