Customer Reviews

Well made, easy to handle and VERY sharp These feed well made, blades are sharp, the handle is easy to... handle. I will say the blade width is somewhere between the wide blade found on toenail clippers and narrow cutter on fingernail trimmers. Despite that, this is what I use now. Big fan! 5Way Too Heavy Bought these because I'd read they were reviewed as "the best" nail clippers.PRO - Clippings don't fly as muchCONS - Insanely heavy. Extra "tail" sticks out at the end with absolutely no meaning (too thick to use to clean underneath nails. Curved edge makes it good only for fingers, not toenailsCONCLUSION - Not to buy as your daily clipper. Not to use if you travel at all. Only get if you have a whole collection of nail clippers - this can fit in as the heaviest. It works OK with its balance, but not at all practical for the average user. 2It's a toenail clipper! I bought this based on the Wirecutter recommendation. After waiting about a month for it to arrive from Japan, I was disappointed to find out that it's a large toenail clipper, not a fingernail clipper. I tried it on my fingernails and it's too big and thick to work. 1Absolutely the BEST at any Price, worth waiting for!! I read about these clippers in New York Magazine, holiday gift ideas issue. (Getting into New York Magazine is a blessing and a curse, I can tell you from personal experience. Got into one of their "Best of New York" issues and nearly drove me crazy with work and into early retirement). If you want them as a gift it's too bad that they take a long time to ship, but let me just say that they are wildly wonderful and completely worth waiting for. Like nothing I've ever used, and I've been a massage therapist for many, many years and am obsessed with my fingernails. Have a bit of arthritis and would sometimes have a hard time clipping with other brands, even the "fancy" ones. These are extra long and fit into your whole hand and clip so easily it's truly surprising. I would recommend these to anyone as the absolute best clippers available anywhere at any price, and especially if your joints are a bit weathered! 5The best? These clippers have a wider gap between the blades, so it is easier to control the clippers and position them to clip just what you want. I've used sharper clippers, but they are sharp enough to get the job done. What makes this clippers really special is their ergonomics. The design makes the grip on these clippers steady and sure. You get a sense of positive control when you hold them. They are notably larger than most clippers, but this contributes to the steady, sure grip. There may be better clippers on the market (and I tried a number), but I don't know what they are. They are worth the price and I'd buy them again. 5Samurai nail clippers! Several months ago I happened to read an article in one of the online news aggregators, entitled "I Found the Best Nail Clipper at the Airport in Japan" (the article can be found on The Strategist section of nymag dot com website and is dated June 22, 2016). That article led to my finding these nail clippers here on Amazon and my eventual purchase of two different sizes. To begin with, the nail clippers sold here on Amazon are in fact the real thing - the product and packaging is in Japanese as shown on this Amazon page, and the clippers are Made in Japan, Green Bell brand, of stainless steel. These are high quality personal grooming tools. I purchased both sizes:- large size: Green Bell Nail Clipper G-1008 (Takumi No Waza) this is model G-1008- small size: Japanese Nail Clipper(S size) this is model G-1006 and appears to be identical to the Seki Edge model SS-106The large size incorporates a nail file into the center part of the top piece. It's not immediately obvious that this is a file, but it is reasonably effective. The similar Seki Edge product includes a more traditional nail file on the bottom part of the top piece (see link below). My impression is that this large size is designed to appeal for the style of the clipper as much as the quality, and for that reason it has omitted the nail catcher and the different type of file. These products are part of the Seki Edge product line of beauty and grooming tools. They have a website in English that is comprehensive in describing the company, it's history and the products (sekiedge dot com). There is a similar large size nail clipper sold under the Seki Edge brand that also incorporates a nail catcher and may be a good choice as well: Seki Edge Satin Slim Clipper model SS-109. Note that this model does have a larger nail file on the bottom part of the top piece. The quality of these nail clippers is apparent from when you first remove them from the packaging and hold in your hand. They are relatively heavy and perfectly finished. The quality of the cut is precise and clean. The cutting edges mate perfectly and cut without any jagged edges or imperfections.I am hopeful that these will be durable and last for a long time. The price is a bit higher than most other run-of-the-mill nail clippers, but not unreasonable for a high quality product. My only small criticism is that it would be nice if the packaging included a translation into English so that it would be possible to read what is said.I will be using these regularly and if longer term experience results in any further comments then I will return here and update my review. 5Not as sharp as advertised and bulky Supposed to be sharp, then why does it create more jagged pieces of cuticle and nail that catches on everything than my old cheap dollar store ones?.... Quite disappointed. Still haven't found the perfect clippers. 2I LOVE these! Well worth waiting for! Wow! I never thought I could get so excited about something so mundane as nail clippers! I just can't say enough good things about these. They came directly from Japan, and by that I mean they took a month to get here, but they were well worth the wait. These are the largest clippers I have ever seen, meaning they fit comfortably in your hand. They are also engineered so that your fingers do not slip (recessed holes for texture). Unlike the small, dull clippers that most of us have gotten used to, and which you have to wrench down on before they deign to chew off a piece of your nail, the amount of pressure you have to exert with these is so miniscule that it's practically effortless. Plus, they are so well-engineered, so sharp and accurate that it is nothing to take off just a tiny sliver of nail. And, when closed, the top piece "locks" into place, unlike the cheapies where the top piece slides all over, poking you in the hand as you fumble for them in your purse. Both unique-looking and attractive; I love the matte stainless steel. If you're into giving high-quality practical gifts, these would make an excellent choice. 5... years i can honestly say this tool is my favorite, the way the clipper sits in the hand ... as a man that used tools and made tools to get things done for the past 40 years i can honestly say this tool is my favorite, the way the clipper sits in the hand because of the spade shaped Handle really shows dedication and intelligent thinking, i wont waste your time telling you about the high quality and sharpness of this nail clipper, i will tell you it is the best functioning nail clipping tool i have ever used. 5Best nail clipper I've used Best toenail clipper I have ever used. To be clear, this item really is a toenail clipper, too large to be a fingernail clipper. As other reviewer's have stated, this cuts easily and cleanly, like no other clipper I've used. I strongly recommend buying this. 5
