Customer Reviews

Phenomenal Beginner's Brush I have never used a shaving brush before, so I was looking for a good brush that loaded well, was not too stiff, and delivered a good, even, slick lather. This brush seemed to have rave reviews across the blogosphere, as well as here, so I decided to get it.When it arrived, I pulled it out of the box and on inspection, realized that it is much bigger than most shaving brushes I have seen being used by professionals or my grandfather. However, it is very lightweight. The bristles had a very light scent, reminiscent of pork rinds, which was actually not unpleasant at all. I shampooed the bristles on arrival and loaded it with Taylor of Old Bond and let it sit for 24 hours on the sill. The next day, I rinsed it with warm water and there was no factory scent left.On my first shave, a couple bristles came out (I guess to be expected). The load came up about 3/4 of the bristles, evenly. It made nice peaks in my cup. On the face, the bristles had a pleasant "prickly" feeling when swirling the brush. Using strokes, the bristles are very soft and leave an even lather, but firm enough to massage the face and jaw. Because of this, I lathered for a couple minutes just because it felt nice.It seemed to whip up a very slick lather, because the shavette glided across my skin and collected most of the hair on the first pass. There was enough lather left on the brush to do a second, thinner coat and shave ATG, which was also very smooth. All in all, a wonderful beginner's brush that I hope lasts for at least a few years. 5that was a total waste of money I finally found the proper replacement for my grandfather's boar bristle shaving brush, which lasted 50 years! Before buying this one, I had bought a "badger" brush by a different manufacturer, that was a total waste of money, since it began to shed after a few months. This brush is superb - and the price is right. This is made in Italy from boar bristle. It lathers well, keeps the lather, and feels comfortable. There has never been any smell, unlike the "badger" brush, which stank for months. This is a good brush! A good buy! 5This brush was very easy to break in and super soft afterwards. But it STINKS! I love that after soaking the brush over night in the fridge and painting dry on a towel a total of 3 times the bristle ends split and are very soft. I think let the brush sit 24 hours to dry out more. The first time I tried to shave with it the smell reminded of a Texas Hog hunt. After this i read several tips on getting rid of the smell. I decided to load the brush with my favorite soap (Executive Man by sterling) and let it sit for 24 hours. This helped a lot but did not completely remove the odor. I used it again tonight and after my shave loaded it again and will let it set 48 hours. 4Firm bristles. No lost bristles in over 4 months of use. Great shaving experience. All soap & brush men ask the same question: Beaver brush or Boar bristle? I've always used beaver brushes since I was a teen. They all seemed to deteriorate rather quickly, ultimately shedding bristles and just being washcloth limp. I needed a new brush so I decided to try boar bristle. It really feels good to work the lather into my pores. The bristle gives a tingle to my face. I simply wet the soap and pour off the excess water. Then I dip the tips of the bristles, about 1/8 inch into really hot water, pick up some soap on the tips and work it upward and around into my beard. If you're new to the shaving brush, a coup[le of do's and don't's. Don't immerse the brush in hot water. You might soften the cement that holds the bristles. Only the tips ever get hot water. After shaving rinse the entire bristles in cold water. Shake excess water out and then wrap a towel around the bristles and squeeze, do not pull for a few seconds. Hang the brush bristles down to let them drip dry. Before use fluff up the brush by running it over your hand. Have fun! 5$9 ? Everyone should have one! Don't be put off by others saying a boar brush is scratchy - im many instances I prefer this to a badger. It has good backbone and it much softer than I expected. This brush does a great job with soaps, and may do better with creams once my technique improves. When using it with Dreadnought shave cream the volume of lather is enormous. It doesn't hold as much water as a badger but that is one reason some want a boar. Depending on what you are using for the lather, the technique does change a bit so experimentation is needed. It did arrive with a nasty odor that took several weeks to diminish, but nothing that was a deal breaker. For the $$$ I cannot see how this can be beat. 4Great Quality brush at great price This brush is just too good. i have used mostly badger brushes for many years and this was my first purchase of boar. i bought this one and Semogue 1305 Boar brush together, i must say, this one simply outperforms the Semogue. The loft is high but that does not mean this ain't good for face lathering at all. i always face lather i can say with complete confidence the backbone is nice on this brush and produces more or less some same lather a badger would have produced. Once you break in, this brush will bring more joy to your shaving and will surely last for years to come. 5Fantastic boar hair brush This is a large brush, very large, I have carpal tunnel and arthritis so this is exactly what i was looking for. Being that it is boar hair it is a bit more stiff than badger but it breaks in quickly, creates a fantastic lather and holds tons of water. I have half a dozen brushes, some boar and some different types of badger but this is my favorite for the reasons i mentioned earlier. 5Great experience to make things right. Seller made it right! There was a flaw with the bristles and I contacted Amazon the day after the product arrived. Great customer service where they refunded my money right away and very easily. I reordered the product and the replacement was flawless. Works great and as expected. Long and stiff bristles. The musty smell went away after about 10 shaves and the bristles are breaking in. Maybe 1 or 2 hairs came loose at first. Apply's shaving cream and soap very well and holds a lot of water. 5A good stiff brush that lifts the hairs off your skin. The hairs on my beard are thick and tend to lie down, also my skin is oily. A typical shave for me is push the razor harder against the skin and then cut myself. For many years I have tried different things to get a close, cut-free shave; all kinds of razors, shaving creams and soaps and face scrubs. Some have worked, some have not. I discovered brushes a decade or so ago and found that they help lift the beard off my skin. I have always used Badger brushes; they were an significant improvement over not using a brush, but I still ended-up with cuts 1-2 times a week.A few months ago, I purchased a travel brush. It was (is) great, it really gave me a smooth shave, but it was a bit small for daily home use. Looking at the purchase, I discovered it was made of Boar hair.I searched for one for home and found this Omega brush. It works great. The knot is big and the bristles are stiff enough the lift the hairs off my skin, but not so stiff to cause irritation. The only thing I think could be improved would be to shorten the bristles slightly. However, this is still a great brush as is. 5Great brush for a newbie I'm gonna rate this 5 stars for now. It's my first venture into the DE world of shaving. I used Gillette cartridge razors as a boy growing up and switched to electric around 20 years old. Now I'm moving onto DE wet shaving. Picked up all my supplies from Amazon and this is the brush I settled on. So far I am happy with it. It's firm but it doesn't overdue it. I was able to get a real nice lather with it so for a first timers brush I love this. I have nothing to compare it to at this time so I'll say it's 5 star worthy. 5
