Customer Reviews

My favorite - but pricier I discovered glass nail files in a souvenir shop on vacation and the little one I got had been handpainted/decorated and was pricey. I came home a purchased some bigger ones on Amazon and the OPI was one of them. I really don't want to use anything else, now. I haven't broken one yet, but have given several as gifts. My favorite is this OPI. I had also purchased the Premium Nail Art Quality Manicure Crystal Glass Nail Files Set of 5 by Cheeky. Those each come in a little plastic sleeve. The OPI comes in a clear plastic tube with a cap, where I still keep it.They are the same length, but the Cheeky ones are a bit thicker/heavier and a coarser grit. The OPI one is lighter & a finer grit that I prefer. You do get just one for the price of 5 Cheeky ones.If you are experimenting with a glass/crystal file, you might want to start with the cheaper ones. But if you don't like them so well, it is worth investing in this one. Mine has lasted 1.5 years, keeping it in the tube and keeping it at my home office desk where I do my nails. I still have to use the pink boards to smooth ridges in my nails, but if I use a regular emery board now, it feels so grating. I really love using the the glass/crystal ones. 4LOVE it! Does a great job in buffing finger ... LOVE it! Does a great job in buffing finger nails. Nail look like they have gloss on them, but no. Lasts me for about a week and I've heard that buffing like this is healthy for your nails. Kinda like face scrub or mask. Removes dead nail growth. Couldn't find it at Ulta, Target, Wal-Mart, CVS or Walgreens. Only on Amazon. 5Still great almost 4 years later I bought this nail file in March of 2014. As of writing this review, it's now November of 2017. This is the only thing I've been using these past few years to file my nails and it still works perfectly. It's not even close to getting dull. I think it helps that I kept the tube it came in and I always put the file back inside it when I'm done using it. But the file itself is sturdy and has proven to be well worth the money I spent on it. 5Bad Quality Control / Decline in Quality I owned my first OPI Crystal Nail File for almost 6 years and I loved it. Unfortunately, my second one was garbage and it only lasted 6 weeks. Upon receiving it, I immediately noticed that it was duller than the first, but decided to keep it anyway. Then today while I was gently cleaning it, it simply snapped right along the line between the clear/untextured part and the opaque filing edge. I wasn't being rough with it. It just fell apart, and now I'm angry because I'll have to find something else to replace it with. Maybe this was a fluke. But if I had to venture a guess, I'd say the manufacturer is cutting corners now. Such a shame, because these used to be great. AVOID! 2Best file ever! I love this nail file. I read that this type of file was better for your problem nails. Just only use it going one direction. It has really helped my nails in the short time I have had it. I won't use regular nail files again! It comes in a great little case so I carry it in my purse. I used to carry the old fashioned type in my purse and the grit would wear off so quickly I was constantly replacing them. Not a problem with this great file! Best one I have every owned! 5Good for guitar players I bought this because I play classical guitar and was looking for a decent long lasting file. After using it and playing for the first time, my nails felt more smooth against the strings than they ever have in the past.Previously I just used the tiny disposable emery board files and my nails made much more sound against the strings with those.I am impressed at the difference. The file can remove a lot of nail pretty easily and only needs to be used gently. Definitely worth the price.UPDATE: So I lost my OPI Crystal Nail File and ended up trying one here on Amazon from a different brand. It was also glass and a little bit cheaper than this one by a dollar or two. I found that the cheaper one did not get my nails nearly as smooth as the OPI file. My nails always had little rough spots that were noticeable when playing guitar, and I couldn't get rid of them no matter how much I filed. I finally bought another OPI file to replace the one I lost and it works just as well as the first one I bought. I'll stick with OPI from now on 5One Star Arrived broken in half can t use it! 1Nice File BUT can be improved I like this nail file a lot for what its worth its really nice. I like the thinness of the file; it makes it great for getting into the corners of my nails since they are short. I don't like how its not durable, its not chemically tempered which would make it stronger at resisting breaks and chips. I would compare this with another glass file that I own sent to me directly from the Czech Republic. It's as thin as this one but I can feel that the one sent to me directly from the Czech Republic is a little bit better quality than the OPI one made in the USA. 4Waste of $10 Broke on first use. 1Perfect I went from a fancy boutique brand glass file to this one - "downgraded" reluctantly after my old one broke. This one, although 3x less expensive, works fantastically and there's no difference in quality. I've also previously tried a cheapo glass file (came in a set of 5 for half the price of this one...) and it was awful... I'd say this OPI file is just right. No need to spend more, and don't dare spend much less. These last forever and are so efficient. It also comes packaged in a little hard plastic case which protects it, especially during travel (my last one came in a thin flexible plastic sleeve which only protected from dirt!).On glass files: Many people do not like glass files because at the wrong angle, it can feel like nails on chalkboard. I never have that issue and it always feels pretty smooth for me... I do still use cardboard style emery boards in my nail work often but I prefer crystal/glass files for daily use and especially for touch-ups, because they are more fine and smooth. (And another note... metal files are never okay) 5
