Customer Reviews

This is the best at any price.... YES ... THE BEST ...This little baby is the best electric shaver I have ever used at any price and I've used a few. Yes, you are reading correctly... the best at any price. It's inexpensive, light weight, powerful and offers dry and wet shaves. But why am I saying "the best" ??? It's only a "cheap" $10 shaver, right ??? Just try this. Get some hand or body moisturizing cream and apply to your face and wait a minute or two and then shave. It will seem like you have shaved with the best razor blade on the market. As close as the bottom of a new born baby. I got the idea from my wife when she shaves her legs. No wonder her legs are so smooth. I will never use any other shaver again.... and always with moisturizing cream. I just happen to use "Gold Bond" moisturizing cream and all I can say is WOW... If I could give it a 6 STAR rating I would. I's really that good. Just try it and experience what a real close shave is all about. Get it & just do it. I can assure you that you won't regret it. I love it and so does my wife... enjoy a close shave on the cheap and forget those costly shavers. Enjoy...5Super close Shave on my face thats its unbelievableI tried this little electric shaver by Panasonic I am so impressed all I can say is wow ! Super close Shave on my face thats its unbelievable. I bought this for $15 bucks since I was going on vacation didn't want to take my $400 dollar BRAUN SERIES 9 9095cc Wet & Dry. So price doesn't mean anything I know this shaver is small portable and easy to use, with a super close shave, I like it better than my Braun. I had my Braun for 6 months and its so so.568 days and counting! What a great little razor! Great shave and easy to use. Description said batteries last for 90 mins and I wanted to see what that would equate to in shaving days as I planned to use it as my regular shaver, day in and day out. I put 2 Kirkland (Costco) double AA batteries in and......like my title says, here we are at 68 days and counting....and still going strong....and I shave with this baby everyday! Thats gotta be way more than 90 mins I would think.....at any rate I'm real happy with the battery life as well as the shaver itself....and all for less than $15 delivered to my door!!!Update for Dec 20, 2011 -Wow! She's still going strong and I'm getting great shaves everyday!Update for Jan 23, 2012 -Whew! Here we are at better'n 4 months (about 125 days) and although the batteries are getting weak, they are still going. I would have already changed them out a week or so ago if I wasn't doing this test to take it right up to the point where the razor stops dead while I'm shaving. That said, I am still getting a great shave everyday but I know that it's just a matter of days before the end finally comes. But Wow am I ever happy with the performance of this razor!Update for Jan 31, 2012 -End of test today.....quit during my shave but what a run. The new batteries really made a difference in razor speed. Probably should have changed them a couple of weeks ago for shaving excelence but wanted to go to the end of the test when they died. But all said and done.....this is a great little razor!!!5Hacked my neck up very first use This item will chew your neck up and leave read blotches. This seems to be the biggest complaint about this product, but thought thought I'd still give it a chance due to the reviews that were still positive. If you have sensitive skin or doubts, just go with the Norelco portable, that one works much better. 1Thrilled First off this is a Travel Shaver and while it can certainly be used for daily use and do a fine job, it is not a $100+ razor. People expecting it to be such for currently less than $15 are simply being naive. If you have whiskers that give even an expensive shaver a workout, don't bother buying a battery operated travel shaver. You are not going to be happy. I'm not trying to be terse here, I'm just trying to keep it real. Now if you want a Travel Shaver that is lightweight, easy to clean, and does a very good shave for at least average whiskers, this is the one. Just don't expect it to be stellar at mowing down 2 or 3 days growth of your then brier patch of a face. Most shavers and especially travel shavers are not designed for this; so don't expect them to excel in this area.I have neither steel wool for whiskers nor peach fuzz. I would, however, guess my whiskers are a little greater than average for being problematic. As a result I normally like to shave with a blade and shaving cream, but I will once or twice a week give my face a break and shave with my full size electric razor. When I travel, however, I like to go as light as possible and decided I wanted a lighter Travel Shaver rather than my full-size electric. I wanted a foil razor (closer shave) and decided on the Panasonic ES3831K.I had a day and half worth of growth when I received it. I began with a splash of Pre-Shave (which is a must for a good electric shave) and started under my neck. I made sure my movement was against the grain and slow enough and light enough for the blades to do their work. I was amazed. While not as fast as my older full-size corded Panasonic ES8249, this shaver was giving me a surprisingly good shave in just a few minutes.Clean up is a breeze. At home I usually rinse the foil and blades under water; apply some foam soap from a pump to the inside of the foil head; reassemble and then run for 20 seconds; disassemble, rinse and let dry for the next use. Easy Peezy. I never use the brush that came with it.Many battery operated razors labor to cut even half a day's growth let alone a full day's. For my beard this is no problem at all for this higher speed shaver. While the Braun M90 has some cool features and one I strongly considered, it's blade speed pales in comparison to the Panasonic; is slightly heavier and more expensive. In the final analysis I thought the most important feature of any travel shaver should be how well it shaves and how long it takes to do it. If it falls short in this area, it really doesn't matter what other features it has. I wanted the best shave possible out of a travel shaver. So I'll end where I started, this is not a $100+ electric shaver, but for less than $15 I couldn't be more thrilled with the convenience and performance of the Panasonic ES3831K. If your expectations fall somewhere in the realm of the realistic, I am confident you will be thrilled too. 5Amazing for the price! I bought one for me... loved it... and bought 1 for my dad, who also loved it. My dad is a guy who hangs onto things forever. He used to dread finding replacement screens and rechargeable battery packs for his expensive 20+ year old shaver. Now, he can replace the AA batteries on his own, and since it is only $14, he doesn't feel that need to repair it, should it ever break. (It hasn't). I have been using mine for 2 years without issue. I have probably changed the batteries 2-3 times in that span, though I alternate use with a traditional razor. For father's day this year, dad asked me to get him another one for a "spare". Not that he needs a spare, but he likes to be ready for anything! This razor has a small "pointed" screen head, ideal for getting into and around ears and noses. I would buy it again without question. 5I bought it just for travel, but now it is my regular shaver Surprised by it's performance. Just need to get used to a closer shave that I need after shave lotion after. I bought it just for travel, but now it is my daily shaver. I am replacing my 3 rotary head Norelco that I've been using for years. Just using 2 Eneloop rechargeable battery that last a long time per charge. The price is so affordable that I will buy another one of this if it breaks. Another thing I like about it is that it cuts a 2 day old unshaved facial hair without pulling the hair like my Norelco. We'll see if it will last as long as my old Norelco though, were you'll get tired of it because it keeps on going for years.UPDATE:Just make sure when you clean the outer foil not to touch it and just run it thru faucet water. My mistake trying to use a brush and dented it. The blade cut the dented foil out--I mean made a hole in the foil. One of those stupid things you do to ruin a perfect shaver when it doesn't really need cleaning. I found a replacement outer foil but cost almost as much as a new one. 5Excellent for travel and daily use. I left my lovely Braun shaver at the hotel and notice after I landed home. And I have another trip 2 days after I landed which mean impossible period of time to receive my Braun shaver package. I need a shaver that is small and compact for travel. Just amazon for 5 mins basic on review and price I pick this item. Item arrive next day after I order just right time before the trip.Pro:1. Size does matter too small or bulky will difficult to hold and carry. It just in prefect shape and size for travel.2. Power source: AA battery. I don't need to worry about the region power plug issue. AA battery is global standard battery which mean I can get it anywhere without problem. As photographer I carry lot AA batteries for my photo gears as well which mean I don't even need to buy AA battery for this item.3. This little shaver does very well to shave my face in clean and smooth without single shave cut.4. Easy to clean. Just take off the mask and use the brush that come with the shaver done.Cons:None if must have one I will say if Panasonic can offer trimmer on this shaver that will be even better. This become one of my daily shaver in case I left my shaver at hotel again :) or I forget to charge my Braun 7 shaver at home. If you are look for budget travel shaver this should be worth to get it. 5Doesn't cut I don't know if its something I'm doing wrong, but after taking the protective cover off with the foil part exposed and turning it on it doesn't cut like at all. It still makes noise and vibrates but doesn't actually cut. 1Comparing Panasonic ES38331K, Braun M90 and Philips Norelco PQ208/40I bought a Panasonic ES38331K ($13.98), Braun M90 ($18.79) and Philips Norelco PQ208/40 ($14.97) to replace a broken travel shaver. I shaved half my face with each shaver, making three pairwise comparisons over three days. The Panasonic had two advantages. It was the most energetic, sounding a lot more powerful. It also was the only wet/dry shaver of the three. But the shave on the Braun was smoother. The Braun also has a built-in trimmer that works well, and the cover is integrated into the design. The Norelco was too weak, not giving a good shave. It was so weak that I changed the batteries on it, thinking that maybe the batteries were depleted, but there was no improvement with fresh batteries.Overall, I give the Braun M90 five stars, the Panasonic four stars and the Norelco one star. Either the Braun or the Panasonic will work well as a travel shaver. Don't waste money on the Norelco.4Good Shaver - but I had my disappointments This is my first review on a product I bought off amazon. I normally am very happy with all my purchases. This one has given me ups and downs. First off I bought it April 17th 2016. It was shipped to me and declared delivered on April 19th but I never received it. I called Amazon and they kindly mediated with the USPS office and gave me a refund to purchase a new one. I finally received this items a few days later after it was recovered and it was delivered properly by USPS.It works well. The charge off the double AA battery is very good - I was impressed with the duration. You could easily go a solid 2-4 weeks depending on your shaving habits. Depending on your hair it will not catch those that lay close to your skin so a razor will be needed, but if you have hair that for the most part stick out it'll give you a good clean shave. I didn't mind doing a once over with this and then doing a straight edge, it was better for my skin.July 27th 2016 it stopped working all together. I switched batteries shook it and cleaned it, with no luck. I called Panasonic regarding the warranty. They ask you to ship with proof of purchase, meaning a receipt. They only pay for shipping a product back to you, so it doesn't really make sense to send a $15 shaver and pay for half if not as much to ship it.So now I have a shaver I liked that doesn't work and I'm not sure whether to order a new one. Send it for a warranty repair or buy a different brand/model all together. 3Excellent value, wet/dry makes it easy to clean, closest shave for an electric Works a long time on the batteries - I use it about every other day and batteries tend to last a couple months. Great for travel. Works wet or dry, I've used in the shower and dry, with and without shaving cream. My best results are using it dry. About as close a shave as you can get with an electric - I had an older panasonic wet/dry (non-travel style) that was slightly better but that one cost more also. This is perfect all the way around. One slightly bad problem - the on/off switch can become hard to switch to "off" and even worse it can switch to "on" pretty easily if you have it packed and it moves around and something else bumps it and turns it on. What I do now is I rinse it regularly so that makes it easier to shut off. When I travel, it has been OK but one time it turned on and the batteries died out - I didn't know because it was packed in my checked baggage so when I arrived at my destination it was "on" and batteries dead. Now I just take the batteries out before traveling and it's not a problem. Still love and and would buy it again, it's a great value! 5If you need a battery powered shaver this is the one top buy: see update I have had many battery operated shavers of different brands over the years and this is without a doubt the best one yet. I think it shaves as well or better than my full size Norelco triple head rechargeable that cost many times more. I purchased it for traveling and to keep in my car for "touch ups" when I run out of time and "forget" to shave in the mornings. I have no complaints and may purchase a second one to keep in my other vehicle. The small "button" in the indention on the front is a lock to prevent the switch from accidentally sliding up and turning the razor on. A really nice feature none of the others have had. There is a clear plastic cover to protect the foil. It is not connected to the razor as some are to prevent loss. It seems fairly snug but could be knocked off if carelessly placed in luggage or car console/glovebox. It also comes with a small cleaning brush. Why they did not have a storage place on the razor for it is a serious oversight on a product so well made. So the only cons, as picky as they are, are the lack of brush storage and would have preferred an attached or more secure attachment for the foil cover.UPDATE The protective cover has nothing to secure it, only shaped to razor. Well first time I dropped it the protective cover fell off leaving the foil unprotected. Razor will not work with damaged foil and there are no replacement foils available. So heed my warning; if you drop the razor with or with the protective cover you will most likely have to throw it away like I did. Razor still 5 stars, protective cover zero stars. 5Good Every-Day Shaver I've had this razor for several months and still like it.PROS:- Close, quick, comfortable shave.- Easy to clean.- It's cordless I never really appreciated this until I used a cordless razor.- Lots of shaving time per charge with Li-ion batteries. Get some Li-ion batteries (AA) and a charger and you're all set.- Good form factor fits nicely in the hand and is easy to hold.MINOR CONS:- No cleaning brush.- It's a bit fiddly to figure out how to install the batteries. The blades are replaceable at a cost of $23.13. A brand new razor costs $14.87. Thus, it doesn't pay to replace the blades.Inner blade: $10.98Outer foil: $12.15Total: $23.13New razor: $14.87 5
