Customer Reviews

Dull blades, do not buy. This replacement is dull from the start. I have had other replacement blades (not Remington brand) that were sharp and very effective. I do not have much facial hair and these blades constantly pull your hair out. Would not buy again. 1NEW AND IMPROVED ??? I've used these since 2012. They have always been very good. However, this one - the one I just purchased - was different in appearance: the rotating blade units were color coded for the first time. In the past, I would replace my rotary blade assembly when my personal shaving time began to exceed 10 minutes; those units usually lasted a year or more. So when I replaced by previous one with this new one, I was immediately surprised that my shave time increased to 12 minutes! With a new one, the shave time usually dropped to 6 - 7 minutes. So, I'm now spending lots more time "mowing." Perhaps the manufacturer changed, or maybe it's a "new, improved" design! Whatever, I'll live with it awhile. And to add to the excitement - I purchased two of them! 3Cuts tight and clean I didn't realize how much I needed new blades until I got them. My previous razor head broke off at the attachment. It's a decision whether to pay $22 for new blades or $34 for a new razor, but my razor wasn't broken otherwise, so I stuck with just the blades. I think Remington makes a fine product, I usually go about 2 years between changing blades. After this last change I plan to change at least every 6 months. It's a much closer shave. The previous blades were basically grinding my hair down with a little stubble left. These are actually trimming them flush with my face. I don't have a lot of facial hair though so that may be the cause of the longevity. 5REPLACEMENT HEAD FOR SHAVER I purchased this for a friend who wants to continue using an older model Remington Razor, but it needed a new head. This head was recommended for his model razor, and it works perfectly. He is very happy with it. 5This thing was redesigned - and NOT for the better. I bought one in January of 2015 for my R-8150 shaver. It was great - exactly like the original. I picked up another in October of 2016, installed it, and immediately noticed that it didn't shave as well. Upon close inspection, I think I found why: Each of the three rotary elements has an inner and outer circle of tiny slots or 'combs' that guide the whiskers. On the original replacement head, these slots were fully open, but the new one has alternating open and closed slots in the outer circle (the inners are all fully open.) This makes it less efficient and essentially it takes longer to shave. I removed the new cutters and installed them in the 2015 replacement. Now it works great. Will buy a whole new shaver of different brand next time. Note: The product images on the site at the time of this posting show all the combs to be fully open, but that's probably not what you'll receive. 2Works Great with R5 Pivot and Flex Razor... I have an old R5 series Remington Pivot and Flex Razor, from several years back. None of the current replacement heads available even list that model anymore, although it's basically the same as the 5150 model that came after it. I haven't been able to find the original pivot and flex replacement heads for quite a while, so finding a replacement that works can be quite a chore - fortunately for me, this one snapped right in and works just fine - probably cuts a little better than the original head and prior 360 Pivot and Flex labeled replacement heads. Only minor quibble is that nowhere in the packaging does it provide instruction on how to install the replacement head - it literally just says "Remove old head assembly and discard. Replace with new head assembly." - but, fortunately, having changed them out before, I remembered how to swap it out.I'll probably order a couple more, since I know this one works, just to have them in case Remington changes things up again before I need a new one again. 5New Design, Fast and Clean Shave Over the years, I have used electric razors manufactured by Remington, Braun, and Norelco. I have owned a Remington R-7130 electric razor since the end of 2008. I have found that the R-7130 gives me a close uniform shave which is the equal of the best that I have had. It also does this in about half the time of that of my previous razor, a rotary by Norelco of similar design. So, I can get to work a few minutes earlier, or maybe better, sleep a few minutes later.Since that time, this is only the second time that I have had to replace the cutting heads. That means that they have lasted about two years for me, although I have to admit that they were getting really run-down in the past month. Now Remington has simplified the design for the replacement heads. The new heads go in from the backside, when the razor is opened. They work just as well as the old type. My only complaint is that the plastic protective top no longer fits on the razor. The total cost over the life of an electric razor must include that of replacement cutting heads. At under $25, these replacements are equal to or lower than the prices of replacement heads for other razors. The instruction booklet suggested replacing the heads every twelve months. I have used the old ones for twice that time. It remains to be seen how long this new model lasts, but so far I am happy with them. 5Good to order multiples for backups Depending on which shaver base you ordered originally, these might actually be better than the blades in the head yours sold with. That was the case for me, at least, though I didn't spend a ton on the razor (I think it was like $70 a year ago--kind of an impulse purchase). I shave my head with a razor blade about three times a week, and I use the electric on the off-days to keep trimmed or if I'm in a hurry. After six months, the original blades in the head had gotten old enough that hair was getting pulled out as often as it had been getting trimmed--not fun. When this one arrived and I popped it on, though, it worked better than the razor did when it was new: not only no tugging, but the razor glides over my head like it's a floor polisher. It's worn in a bit in the months since I got it, but even worn, it's now about as good as the one the razor came with. I wish I'd ordered a second so I had it waiting in the cabinet! 5It actually fit my razor and works really well! ... It actually fit my razor and works really well! But a story here..I was in Washington State taking care of a family matter and forgot my Remington shaver. However I found my Dad's old shaver which was most recently used in 1987 or so...It got the job done.Unbelievable it would still work! Hats off to Remington and think about how many straight edge shavers you would go through in 30 years or so, yet the Remington keeps cutting even after YEARS of service...GO REMINGTON!!!!!i 5"Universal", not really Caution! This replacement head is billed as a "universal" replacement for Remington rotary shavers. It actually only replaces the head on certain newer models. Read carefully down further in the advertisement for the list of actual models it fits and compare it to your shaver. If yours is not listed, then it will not fit. I did not look carefully enough (I have a Remington R845) and now I have a useless but expensive replacement head... 3
