Rich and creamy texture This is a nice shampoo. It's a nice rich, creamy texture. A bit pricey, but I liked and support the companies sustainable policy.The reason I didnt give 5 stars is, I have to add Tea Tree oil to this to get the scalp-healing benefits I need. 4A "Greener" Option, but don't Expect it to Help with Dandruff I tried the baking soda apple cider vinigar 'no poo' in the past (on and off for about 6 months) ; too inconvenient and then I read several articles on how it was horrible for your hair long term. Then I tried Hugo Naturals since it was cost effecitve but it left a residue in my hair I got tired of trying to correct, so I retired it to a body wash. Went back to whatever conventional shampoo was in the house. For some reason I developed notoicable white flakes in my hair conventional dandruff shampoo wasn't helping with, so I tried this after a search on Amazon for "organic dandruff shampoo". I liked that it was vegan and the ingredients were plant based, and it also was advertised as helping with scalp issues. Upon usage, I noticed it has a strong citrus smell (which may put some people off) and lathred just like regular shampoo which was nice.Unfortunalty, it has done nothing for my dandruff after using for about 2 monthes (bought in October, stopped early December). It also leaves my hair with a waxy feeling like Hugo Natruals did though sometimes an acv rinse helped. But having to do experiments (including rewashing my hair) was something I was trying to get away from. To be fair I have straight, fine hair that doesn't take well to cream conditionair or natural oil treatments either (just tried olive oil for the dry scalp skin and had to wash my hair 3 times!) so maybe there are too many plant oils or somethng (it is a thick consistancy) for me.So, if you are prone to product build up or are looking for a dandruff solution skip this. But if you are just wanting to try a 'greener' shampoo solution and don't mind citrus or the price, it's worth considering. 3Good for dandruff and highlighted hair So far, this product has helped my horrible dandruff! I use it 2-3 times a week on my color treated hair, and it has improved the itch and flake factor immensely. I like its smell, and it hasn't turned my highlights any strange color. 4Trichotillomaniac Approved I have trichotillomania and dry scalp, which is an awful combination. Not only does this shampoo take the dryness and itching away, it's helped me to stop compulsively pull at my hair. I just wish there was more in the bottle and different scents. 5Good Customer Service It has a strong tea-like smell that I like, but others might be sensitive to that. I bought it because of all the reviews from people with trichomania. It works great on an itchy scalp, which caused me to touch my hair less and therefore stop pulling on it. My mania is still present, and requires effort to manage, but my scalp is fine. I had a shipping issue with my order and I had to contact MGA to resolve it. Their customer service is excellent. They responded promptly, and even thought the issue wasn't caused by them, they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my order. 5Trichotillimania relief I purchased this because of someone else's review on the shampoo that this helped with their trichotillimania (compulsive hair pulling), and I, too, have found that it has been helping me a great deal. Many with this issue might also have the same nagging "itch" or physical need that seems to come from their scalp that is part of the reason they pull. I know I do. This shampoo/conditioner has helped soothe my scalp and make that feeling go away. My scalp feels calm...if that's a thing. 5Heaven Sent I have very frizzy, dry, damaged short hair. I bleached my hair for a couple years and when I finally went back brown I had so much damage that i had to cut most of it off. Even so, I still had about 2 or 3 inches of damaged hair. I would have cut it all off but i'm a big girl and was too afraid to do a pixie cut. Anwyway, lately it's been bothering me how terrible it looks. So I started doing coconut oil treatments which helped alot but knew i needed to swtich to something organic since I had already done so much damage with chemicals. My process: Coconut oil treatment for at least a couple hours. Use organic! Read up on the benefits of coconut oil if you are hesistant trust me you won't regret it. Then I followed up with Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Shampoo. I had done many coconut oil treatments but it always seemed I could never get it all out. This shampoo well ensure its all out. It will feel similar to a anti-residue shampoo which sort of scared me but I moved on to the Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Conditioner next. I let it sit rinsed then used two leave in products that I always use. (side note: I always use the leave ins and have been doing the oil enough to know the difference this product made was astounding) Anyway, I used It's a 10 leave in silk conditioner and Redkin extreme anti-snap. Then I used my blowdryer. I attached a picture of what my hair looks like with this added to my arsenal. 5It's vegan. It works I have used h&s for something like 12 years with on short and regrettable exception where I was forced to buy suave and I started getting flakes in a couple days. In have been using mga for several months and I'm good. Smells great, prevents flakes, and its not some crazy aluminum zinc or whatever I was putting on my head all those years 5Great Product The product is great. It is low sudsing so it is easy to rinse and to rinse cleanly. It has a nice scent. It is not irritating or "burning" to a sensitive scalp and is effective in "calming" an "angry" scalp. My daughter uses this product for her super dry and sensitive scalp, and she is pleased with it. She has long curly hair. No residue or build up. Leaves hair clean.I was not pleased with the packaging when the item arrived, but I think this was an Amazon issue. The bottle was sealed in a plastic bag, but the bag got a hole in it. The product lid came open and product leaked out into the bag. Some of the product then leaked through the bag hole onto other items I had in the package. I was disappointed in losing product and for my other items getting prooduct on them. But-- this is a packaging issue of Amazon, not an issue with the item. 5Smells good, foams up a lot, doesn't help with my itchy scalp Did not appreciably reduce my itchy scalp or flakiness (though I attribute that in part to the max Green Scalp Rescue Styling Gel I also tried. Be aware that this does foam up A LOT. This can be a pro/con depending on how you look at it. On the plus side it's super foamy and easy to wash your hair with, on the downside, even though it's a natural-based foaming agent, it's still a foaming agent--which I've been led to believe isn't good for your hair. Yes, shampoos without foaming agents are harder to apply and generally require that you splash water on your hair to get them to foam up at all, but supposedly they're better for your hair and scalp. Otherwise, this lasted decently long for the price, and it smelled good. 3
