Customer Reviews

Good product I love this product. It soaks in quickly and my skin feels soft as a baby's. I have periodic bouts of eczema on my hands, and this seems to keep it at bay. I would recommend putting it on after each hand washing...and especially before bed. My 9 yr. old granddaughter has problems with her skin getting red, dry & itchy, especially in the winter, and this product also helps her. It's very gently and yet effective. 5Our Favorite For A Long Time, But We've Found Something Better For Our Needs This is going to be a bit of an unusual review, so bear with me please. In my reviews on Shea Butter and African Black Soap I mention how our daughter suffered for several years from fairly severe eczema which we've since gotten under control and almost eliminated (thank you, ITSAN). For a long time during the eczema ShiKai Lotion was the product we settled on to moisturize her skin. The lotion went on easily, had no scent, and kept her skin moister for longer than any other product we'd tried to that point. Now if you or someone you care about has ever suffered from eczema, you know how valuable it is to find something that helps (or even something that simply doesn't make things worse). You also know how variable the results are with any product for any given individual - what works for one eczema sufferer may not work for another and may actually make things worse for a third. So had I written this review before discovering shea butter, I would have given this product five stars. However, since the shea butter worked better for us, I can only give it four stars. That is not to say this ShiKai Lotion is a bad product by any means. In fact, for you it might be the perfect product for all the reasons it was our favorite for a long time. But for us, shea butter ended up performing better in all those categories. So I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this product; borage lotion is a very good moisturizer. At the same time, I would like you to be aware that there is something out there that might work better and is also a greater value. 4Excellent for Dry, Sensitive Skin This is a rich, emollient moisturizer with no added fragrance. It contains a number of skin-friendly ingredients that moisturize and prevent inflammation. It soothes my cuticles when they get very dry and threaten to crack. The moisture lasts a long time, too. You're not, "Ahh, that feels good!" when you apply it, and ready to scratch your skin two hours later.I like the packaging, too. I like the pump bottle, which locks to keep out air, and the fact that it's opaque and doesn't let light hit the product. The green bottle is neither feminine nor masculine-looking, so men needn't fear having it on display. In fact, men may find this very nice to use after shaving, instead of after-shaves, which are so irritating. It does have a smell from the ingredients. I don't know which ingredients are the offenders, but I found my nose became used to it quickly and no one has indicated they smell the product on me.It's a bit pricey, and there are other moisturizers that are fragrance-free and have skin-calming and repairing ingredients that cost less. Nevertheless, I would buy it again. And I *never* recommend products from dermatologists' skin care lines! 4Physician recommended My doctor suggested I get this for my eczema. Though I've been using this product, my eczema hasn't altered. Since my doctor told me to use it, I'll likely keep doing so. No smell. Thin consistency.Update 11/9/2018After discovering the reason I have eczema is candida of the digestive system (also known unappealingly as "leaky gut"), I went on a hunt for any and every cream to help the crazy itching stop. I literally tried over 20 creams (at many expense levels) and the most effective product was Wild Naturals Eczema & Psoriasis Cream. Wild Natural's Eczema cream layers well with the Borage Therapy lotion. The candida was diagnosed through a blood test after I'd been suffering from eczema and seborrheic dermatitis for almost 3 years. After 3 weeks of the candida diet (no sugar, yeast/gluten, or dairy), I'm not having the outbreak of eczema!!! I combined this product with one other topical ointment that my doctor suggested: PurO3 Fully Ozonated Olive Oil salve. The one on my bedside table is Mustela Stelatopia Emollient Balm, Rich Daily Baby Cream for Extremely Dry to Eczema Prone Skin. Changing my soap was a huge game-changer as well. My most favorite and delightful surprise for soap (and many of their products) is Tree to Tub's Gentle, Sensitive Skin Body Wash. I loved this so much, I got some plus the shampoo for my step-mom, who is suffering from a wicked case of psoriasis (she LOVES it)! In the shower, I use lye soap. Even if the eczema stays gone (which is ideal), I now know how to help keep my skin hydrated and protected during the dry winter months. Best wishes to you and healing your skin!!! 4Best hydrating lotion Very hydrating. Don't waste money on anything else.I arrived back to Alaska in winter with 5% humidity. My skin instantly turned from healthy hydrated skin to fish skaley skin. I tried so many lotions. Nothing worked ... Only this lotion saved my skin. I only had to use it once or twice and my skin returned to healthy smooth skin. Now, I only use it once a week after washing a lot of dishes. No irritation, very hydrating and calms my skin 5The Best Option for Face and Body I have used this stuff for years. It is non-greasy and really makes a big difference when my hands get dry or cracked. After using it for a few days the problem always goes away. I also use it on my face occasionally and it never clogs the pores or creates any skin problems. I highly recommend it! 5It melts into your skin and leaves it beautifully soft and hydratedI have tried numerous moisturizers for my dry, cracked, hurting skin and ShiKai Borage Therapy always instantly soothes and moisturizes without feeling greasy. It melts into your skin and leaves it beautifully soft and hydrated. It's worth the $$ if you are in need of something that really works. I have also recently tried Aveeno and it's okay, but ShiKai Borage is MUCH better - by a star or two!5In a word, Amazing! By far the best, most effective lotion on the market. I have severely dry skin in the winter, even getting little bumps on my upper arms & elbows. I thought I would just have to live with it until I found this stuff. It's the only thing that works!!! It's pricy, sure, but if you have super dry skin like me, it's worth it because it will clear it up. Love this stuff!! 5Don't care for it I didn't care for this product, the fragrance is off-putting, not pleasant at all and doesn't provide any noticeable moisture or softening on my skin. It's quite thick. I purchased this solely from the reviews written and was disappointed. 2Hands Down Best Lotion Ever I have very sensitive skin & this actually heals my eczema. It is the best lotion I have ever used. Please don't raise your prices due to this review. 5Very soothing, healing, unscented formula for sensitive skin, good for face and body This lotion is gentle enough to work for face and body and I've used it for more than a decade. It's economical if you're using it for your face only, as,a small amount will go a long way. It dries quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feel. I haven't used any other face lotion since I discovered this one! 5Stinks like fish! Stinks like fish!! Keep trying to use this bottle when needed. Finally can t take it any longer. It s officially in the trash can now. Definitely not uncented like many other reviews have mentioned. I am really surprised to see such high reviews for this lotion as smells don t usually bother me. Even my spouse immediately smells this lotion on me even hours after I have applied it. We say it has a fish smell. Is it possible we received a rancid bottle? Anyhow, it s far from uncented that s for sure! 2
